Cumulative Patch necessity; cannot open attachment

I sent this earlier but did not find it on the
postings or in my sent bin so it may have failed.
I receive periodic email from MS such as today's
November Cumulative Patch. I cannot open the paperclip to
download it. Is there a setting I need to activate in
order to open this? I have this problem with other
attachments also.
Relatedly, I visit the Update center every 2-4 weeks
in order to keep current. After being unable to open the
attachment this mornig, I did so and, after a search of my
computer, nothing was recommended. Perhaps the email from
MS is generic? Please advise. Thanks. SWA

you need to allow outlook to show attachments.

Options
and then the Security Tab, and clear the box that says
"Do not allow attachments to be saved or open that could potentially be a
virus"
BUT like Tyler said, MS do not send out emails with attachments.

Hello Stephen,
Microsoft does not send any patches or updates via e-mail. This is likely
a virus/hoax. Please use Windows Update to patch/update your environment.
