When using win 98 and if the computer got hot up or frozen, I used to be
able to type in ctrl - alt - delete and it would reboot. What key
combination do I use now to reboot in win xp home edition?/

There isn't any such thing in XP. All you have to do is hit the reset button on the front of your tower. Usually the smaller button below the larger power on button. This won't cause the old issues of lost data and so on, that occurred in '98. XP is robust enough to allow the reset. Good luck.

Yes, I've noticed this. Traditionally (back to Win. 95, IIRC)
ctrl -alt-del resulted in a re-boot. Now, with XP, it brings up "Task
Manager". It's strange that they should make this change and I'll look
for replies to the OP with interest.

When you do the CAD, look at the menues in the window that opens: There is
your Shut Down command, amongst many other handy things. MS did fairly good
on this one.

Never noticed that Shut down tab there. Also, I meant to type in *hung up*
not hot.
Sorry and thank you.

Control-shift-Escape now.

Wrong. It is control shift escape.

Control-Shift-Escape does the same thing as Ctrl + Alt + Delete does the
same thing as Right click the Taskbar | Task Manager.

It depends on other settings if CAD and CSE do the same thing. CAD brings up a dialog (where one option is to start TM) or task manager depending if the welcome screen is off or on. CSE always brings up TM.

:))
You bet it helps .............. thanks for your help. You can obviously see
that I am new to xp.

Control alt delete brings up the menu from where you can go to task manager.
control shift escape just brings up task manager which is what the person
wanted.

Yeah but he was wrong. control alt delete brings up a different menu.
Control shift escape brings up the menu you wanted.

Interrogative,
Looks the same window to me, by both methods, on Xp Home.
Rob.

If you use the welcome screen both give task manager. If you don't use the welcome screen then Ctrl + Alt + Delete gives a security dialog and Ctrl + Shift + Escape gives Task Manager.
