Actually, that is only partially true. The FileAs field is derived only
when
a new contact is added but can be modified programmatically if the contact
is updated. There are a number of fields that Outlook treats differently
on
initial creation which is why using the standard import function won't
work
(also precisely why ContactGenie Importer doesn't offer the FileAs field
as
a mapping option either).
Ergo, even if Victor could export the field, it would be necessary to
write
some custom code to update the field after the contact record was
initially
created or use a 3rd party product to update the contact records with the
new info (ContactGenie DataPorter happens to do that). We'll also be
releasing a new product with complete export functionality (i.e. all
custom
fields, selection crteria, ....) in the weeks ahead for contacts, GAL,
Exch
Distribution Groups & token support for Personal Dist Lists etc along with
a
variety of other features such as inline bulk field updates which won't
require any importing or exporting of data.

The File As field is a derived field. It could never survive an import of
any kind.

I found out, the hard way, that Outlook does not export/import the
"File_As"
field to CSV or any other format.
Can this be changed or worked around ?
I now have to make changes on 8,000 or so record's in this field.
Any idea or reply, curse, etc.. very appreciated !
