Anyone have any clue if, in addition to all the necessary security
enhancements, if IE 7 will actually support W3C standards like CSS2 and XHTML
1.0. Also, will an updated of the horribly out of date MSHTML.DLL be included?

Microsoft has not mentioned better support of standards. It has
mentioned that IE7 will maintain compatibility with earlier products.

See http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/ for the reaction of designers to the IE7
announcement.

I need to know as well. What I am also more curious about is how to get
current versions of IE to support features that are apparently already
supported. For example, the release notes of IE4.01 clearly state that PNG
support was added, but I never found out how to actually get IE (4,5,6) to do
this without use of crazy stuff like ActiveX DirectX filters. I was hoping to
find information here about XHTML 2 and CSS 3 support yet Internet Explorer
has got some way to go. The Australian governement keep telling me they want
standards compliant web sites that work in Internet Explorer, I guess I have
to go back to them and ask which of the two they want, a standards compliant
web site, or one designed for Internet Explorer? Probably the easiest
solution for myself would be to commision someone to make an "IE like" skin
for Mozilla and/or Firefox, distributing it would keep everyone happy.
