Has anyone used the new Photoshop CS2 HDR 32 bit funtion to successfully
merge two Vuescan scans of, say, a slide to create a composite with more
dynamic range? I would be interested in reading the results, and any tips of
technique you could share. thx. There was a recent thread on Photonet which
discussed this possibility.

Do note that (according to reports in the PS newsgroup) input images
are reduced to 8-bit before generating the HDR image!!! This has a
negative effect on the quality of the end product.

If you are into HDR another free program to generate them is:

http://www.ict.usc.edu/graphics/HDRShop/

It also has the 8-bit limitation and seems to have a bug whereby the
output image is clipped by about 3.9% from the top.

However, as a VueScan user you're probably used to bugs... ;o)

Don.
