Cryprtographic service?

my new (3days old ) xp. naturally got the blaster bug
agh! have loaded the fix from m/soft, ok for a while,
then bug comes up again. after loading the patch I get
the message "setup could not verify the integrity of the
file update.inf Make sure the cryptographic service is
running on this computer." how can I check if its
running and get running if it isnt? thankyou very much
