hi people , i want to buy a new monitor .

the most important thing is "it must be eye freindly"

i learned that lcd screens are better , sinces the dont flicker and are
flater..
what parameter are important for eyes safety?
any link to reaserchs or reviews will be most admired

thanks in advance

You can get a CRT that has a flat screen. With a good CRT and video card the refresh rate will be much to high for anyone to see any flicker. On many CRTs when running at the highest resolution with a bright (e.g. white background) screen the screen will flutter; but this is because of poor design and not related to refresh rate.
A good CRT will have more accurate color than any flat panel display. A flat panel display may not have a good image at other than native resolution; try different resolutions before you buy one. If you play games or any videos test the flat panel display to make sure there is no smearing because of slow pixel response.

The other posters comments are accurate, but left out the biggest
drawback of CRTs (other than their huge size and weight):

CRTs are now priced so low that the quality is much lower than
in years past. The last few CRTs that I have bought could not
be successfully adjusted for a proper square picture. Not sure
if any quality CRTs can still be had, but any LCD will give you
a perfect square sharp picture at their native resolution. I've
given up on CRTs for this reason.

I am using a 17" NEC monitor that I paid $800 for when I had a 80486 PC. The color and convergence are still better than many new cheap 17" monitors.
There are still good CRT monitors available but they are not cheap.

At leat they're probably a bit cheaper then they used to
be... I know I paid a pretty penny at the time for my
Viewsonic 19" quite a few years ago ($500? $600?). When
this puppy finally fades (and it's starting to),
hopefully I can pickup a good quality 19" for $400 or
so. Probably a mid-range NEC / Viewsonic is what I'll
shop for next time. So long as it has a fine dot-pitch
and supports 2048x1536 at 85+ Hz (if possible?).

My current complaint against desktop LCDs is their DPI
is too low for my tastes. I work on a laptop with
125dpi (1400x1050 in a 15" diagonal) and it's much nicer
then the standard 96dpi 1024x768 15" diagonal screens.
Using large fonts + cleartype gives a very crisp look to
the display. And the current year's model is a
1600x1200 15" display with a DPI around 145.

Unfortunatley, nobody makes a 17" LCD with 1600x1200
resolution.

I'm also hesitant to go LCD for my main system due to
color reasons (I do video editing).
