I am running windows xp pro with all the service packs completely up to
date. My problem is this: when I am logged onto my machine and I press
CRT_ALT_DLT to bring up the task manager with the usual selections such
as Change Password - Logoff - Shutdown etc but all I get is a graph of
my lan usage. I have no idea as to what is causing this behaviour but I
would be grateful for some feedback from other users.
TIA

Move the cursor to any edge of the Task manager dialog box and double click. You likely have the TM in small footprint mode which makes the tabs for the different screens disappear.

Hi,

My first problem is, when I run task manager with the user accounts set to
the old style of logging on, I do not get the option to logoff, reboot,
shutdown etc, I only get this function if I change the user accounts to use
the new picture/ family logon screen at startup. Is there any way I can use
the old style login for more security, plus still have access to the shutdown
option in task manager? Im running win xp home sp2 and ALL patches installed.
I have a shortcut in my startup folder for the task manager to and I've
searched this site for days trying to find a solution. I've even downloaded
and installed task manager reset and both task manager high/low but they dont
solve anything.

My second problem is, I have to turn my mains supply off to my laptop before
I can shutdown or reboot it otherwise my usb2 dvd-rw and/or any other usb
device attached makes windows hang after getting the message windows is now
logging off. Is this an OS problem? It doesn't happen on a friends laptop
running the same OS. Ive even formatted twice to see if it would help but to
no avail!

My last problem is, my WiFi adapter is showing that its the 6th Wifi adapter
even though its the 1 and only, how do I delete 1 thru to 5 so that it shows
as no 1? I had a few problems installing the software, Belkin's website says
I need to install a patch from microsoft but everytime I did it totaly naffed
it up, plus I tried it in different ports to try and solve the problem. It
works fine without the patch so I haven't bothered to re-install it.

Hope you dont mind trying to help and I hope I havent asked too much of you.
I look forward to hearing from you and getting these issues resolved.
