CRROM Not Working

[Victim Of KB835732]

My computer crashed with the install of KB835732 but I was
able to remove the update and get my computer running
again. But I was left with one problem, I hear no sound
when play Audio CD's. I've uninstalled the drivers for the
soundcard, a Audiophile 2496, but still no sound. I can
hear a Audio CD if I switch back to the on board
soundcard. I've run out of things to try except to retry
the KB835732 update, which I am afaid to do. Any idea?

Hi.

My sound has started playing up since installing this
update. I phoned Microsoft (not directly about the sound -
the patch 835732 causes so many problems!) and they say
the best thing is get the latest drivers from the
manufacturers website.

If not, I'm awaiting Service Pack 5.

I haven't been able to find the drivers for the CDROM, an
Artec. Did you also have no sound at one point?
