Crossover Connect 2 servers

I run a small network, about 30 users. Two servers, both with 2 nic's.
Here is what I would like to do. The current LAN is 192.168.0.0 with one of
the servers running AD, DHCP and DNS. The second server is connected to that
network and is a print and file server only. I would like to run crossover
cable the 2 servers on the 2nd nics with a static address of 10.1.1.20 and
10.1.1.21.

My question is how to route the 2 servers so they use the 10.1.1.0 crossover
to communicate and not the 192.168.0.0 LAN.

Thanks...B

Hello Bob,

If you will route them to use only the 10 network, they can't do their work
for the 192 network. So don't do it. What would you like to achive with this
configuration? You will get in conflict in your running network with this.

Best regards

The first question is, what are you going to be running across the
direct link?. If it's backups, the easiest thing is just refer to them
using their IP addresses. The best approach might be to put an entry in
each server's HOSTS file pointing to the other using the 10.1.1.x address.

I don't think that would happen. The clients route would be thru the LAN. I
want to isolate the 2 servers conversations. One of the servers runs
backups and that will keep traffic off the LAN.

The layout would be this:
192 Network LAN all clients, printer and gateway (router) - including the 2
servers on nic 1
10 Network crossover cable connect the 2 servers on nic 2

The idea is to have all the traffic between the servers on the 10 network.
