Here is the scenerio:
Have an epson 1280 running XP
While printing in MGI made for windows 95, or pictures done in Word for xp,
Adobe photodeluxe 2.0, all is fine.
However anything printed in Adobe photoelements 2.0 is too red and what I
see on the screen is not what I am getting printed. "Print preview" is
fairly accurate but pretty different from what is on the screen before
displaying print preview.
Also, anything printed in ArcSoft is too blue and somewhat fuzzy.
Any ideas? I have gone to epson to update drivers but still have issues with
the listed programs.

It sounds like you need to calibrate your monitor. It doesn't sound like a
printer issue.

I have an epson C-80, If I print on Kodak Paper it's red, If I print
on CQ paper it's blue. Make sure you always use the same brand of
paper then You use a callibration program to callibrate the system.
You will have to callibrate each paper you use.

Well,
The thing is that I get excellent results in most of my programs.
Adobe Photo elements 2.0 is the real sticking point.
The oddest thing is that when I 'print preview' it gives me a true picture
of what I will be getting. But this Print Preview is much redder than what
is on the screen.

If I were to calibrate my screen wouldn't that mess up my other picture
programs?

Those work pretty well. (except for ArcSoft which is not not totally xp
compatable anyway)
And in fact most work very well. Seems odd.

If you calibrate your equipment it should all be seeing the same thing. You
can't proof by looking at the print preview. They aren't accurate. Also as
someone else mentioned if you are using different papers you will get
different results. Kodak paper is not the best to use with Epson's. It was
made for thermal ink jet printers which Epson isn't. The cost is the same
so why use Kodak and make adjustments when you can get beautiful photos
using the Epson paper? Seems you are making more work for yourself.

It sounds as though Photo Elements is applying some color correction of its
own. See if you can find a setting in there for monitor gamma, or printer
profile, and turn it off.

Thanks Jerry,
Exactly. Where would I figure out how to adjust photoelments?

To respond to others...I use all sorts of paper for different reasons and
effects. But using the same paper, same printer, same computer - all is too
red with adobe photoelements 2.0. It is just too weird with ArcSoft but that
program really isn't exactly compatable with my machine so that is sort of a
much lesser point. With all the other imaging programs (I have about...a
dozen or more) all is well - what I see on the monitor is what I get.

Adobe photoelements 2.0 is just doing something strange in that what I see
on the monitor is not what I get printed although when using print preview
that IS an accruate print preview but is NOT what was on the screen before
printing (I hope that is clearer...showing would be much easier) Print
preview shows a much redder image than the original sceen and if I do print
it I do indeed get the red image.
I don't get it.
