Autumn;
Because of the recent worm, many people are updating now what should
have been done over the last several months.
So it may be normal based on the circumstances.

Do not use Express Installation.
You can order Service Pack 1a CD from:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/servicep acks/sp1/ordercd.asp
p
Or:
Download the Network Installation from here: (be sure to select the
correct language)
Also select "Windows XP Professional and Home Edition" Do NOT select
64 bit.

DSL takes about 20 minutes, if you do not have high speed access, get
a friend to D/L SP1a for you.
Then burn it to a CD and keep for the future.

Thank you so much for answering my question. I didn't
feel that anyone was hearing me. Can you help me with
this one:
I get to the Microsoft website listing upgrades, a search
is made, critical upgrades identified, individual OR
groups of upgrades are selected and downloaded, the
dowload appears to occur, but the computer stalls at
installation. Have tried several different upgrades,
both singaly and in groups. Same result. Why won't the
downloaded upgrade install? What do I need to do?
Thanking you in advancd.
