Are the two swastikas the unacceptable symbols in the Bookshelf Symbol 7
font referred in the Critical Update (KB833407) for Window notice? If so,
what does this religious symbol affect and why is it a critical update?
Isn't this a little over the edge?

It's a critical update for MS to save face, so that they don't look like
a bunch of Anti-Semites.

It's more like a cry for help. "Please fix our f*ck up for us!"

"Trustworthy Computing" is only another example of an Oxymoron!

kurttrail,

Thanks for the reply, and I must apologize, it appears that I may have not
been clear about what I wanted.

I wanted to know if the update is to address the inclusion of the swastikas
in the font. Because, I was trying to decide whether to bother with the
update or if there is something going on that will cause a problem on my
system if the update is not installed.

I found my answer on CNN. I will not be applying the update since it is
non-value-added.

http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/biztech/12/12/microsoft.swastika.reut/

I have pulled a quote from the CNN article to help clarify the issues.
According to the CNN article, " A form of the swastika has been used in the
Buddhist religion to symbolize the feet or footprints of the Buddha. The
symbol, which was also used widely in the ancient world including
Mesopotamia, Scandinavia, India and the Americas, became common in China and
Japan with the spread of Buddhism."

I hope MS removes this from their "Critical Update" list since it is very
misleading and I don't want to have to look at it until the next version of
Windows is released. ;)
