Critical Patches reset Regional Options?

Hello,

Is it possible that a Critical patch can "reset" or in
any way change the Regional Options on a given computer?

We have seen a number of our user's "Short Date" format
set incorrectly for our environment. When the user is
given the PC, it is set correctly and of course the user
says they didn't change anything.

Looking for ideas.

Yes.

Most of the updates are US based and can reset local variables. Its a
pain but its either crash/ get hacked or drop a script out to fix it (
I keep a script for locale and loacle settings handy and pump it out
every now and again when im near a ms network)
