Don't know how many of you received the expire notice from Creative today,
but for my card there is no updated driver available. We need to let
Creative know that we are in need of those replacement drivers or at least a
driver with a later expire date before the current driver expires next week.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver should do the trick. It just
counts X days from when its installed.

What card/driver do you have?
I have X-Fi and have not received any notice.

John:
You're lucky to have sound. I'm running Vista Enterprise RTM x64 and
no drivers are available yet for my Audigy 2zs. Hopefully they're released
soon. Have a great day.

Did you try the beta drivers on the website? I have basically the same card
but platinum but am at RC1. As I remember the only difference was the way
the console was organised.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver does not work, I tried that and
mine still says it will expire on Jan. 12 as it did before

John:
They didn't work and the x64 drivers wouldn't work either. With RC1
& RC2 I was using the x64 drivers for sound.

On my Dell at work, I automatically got drivers for my Sound Blaster Live
5.1 from Windows Update. RTM.

You have my sympathy. No sound would drive me crazy. I need noise to think
:-) You still going to be able to get back to work next month? Hope things
are going well.

John:
I'm still weak and have no energy, but still hoping to be back to
work next month. I uninstalled the creative drivers after installation
because they weren't working. After reading this post I tried an old trick
from x64 beta. I unzipped the creative beta installation file with Winrar in
x64, then installed the driver manually through Device Manager and now I
have sound. I now have a difference between RC2 and RTM, I get an expiration
notice with RC2 but don't get the notice with RTM.

Follow-up: This is the reply from Creative. Not sure if it means drivers
might be available when the current one I have expires 1/12 or if I have to
go back to XP for sound.

I am truly sorry for the trouble and inconvenience caused by this. Your
concern and many others' are being feedback to the developere team. In
the meantime, you may want to find out more about the current ETA of
Vista drivers

John:
One thing that may be promising is that the October beta release has
been removed from the Creative driver listing.

I noticed. Hope that means that they will have a better driver or the same
driver with a different or no time bomb.

John:
I found a work-around if the new drivers are late. I downloaded the
X-Fi Vista drivers, opened the package using WinRar. Then in device manager
updated the driver manually by pointing to the WDM file in the X-Fi package.
Everything is working, the new driver ends in 1261 and there is no
expiration message.

Thanks Dennis. Will give it a try over the weekend. For tomorrow guess it
will be back to X64. That's a great system, has drivers and except for the
eye candy, I have a more functional system.
