creative inspire 5.1 v 5200 speaker system

I need help in configuring xp(home) to use this 5.1 system
the speakers come with 5 surround sound and one sub woffer
but only the sub and two of the speakers work on any
application. the software is instaled but i don't think
corectly or maby i need to do some upgrades.
help...

Rightclick the sound icon (bottom righthand corner of
monitor on taskbar) and click "Adjust Audio Properties".
Under Speaker Settings click the Advanced button. Under
Speaker Settings select your System then click Apply and
OK. Also, check if you have your speakers hooked up
together in the proper order.
