Creating White Noise CD

I'd like to make a white-noise CD to screen out my neighbor's noise. I have
a 90k WAV file that would work if the track was infinitely repeated. Any
ideas where to start? Do I have to duplicate the track a gazillion times
before burning it to the CD? How do I get rid of the gaps between each
track? I have Audacity, a CD burner and some other programs, but haven't
used them much.

just found this little prog

http://heliso.tripod.com/download/generator/dsg.htm

might be easier to generate a longer sample

hope this helps

Pink is better.
to jam transients you need levels that would cause industrial deafness.

Looks like a nice proggie, but I don't know how to use it; there's no
help file. I imported my WAV file (sound of rushing wind) and it did
"something", not sure what. I then saved the file with a WAV extension,
and it was bigger than before, but I didn't get any sound out of it.
I'll play around with it some more ...

try this:
http://www.relaxingaudio.com/SoundMasker/Soundmasker.htm

"Sound Masker generates White, Pink, Brown , Purple and Blue noise.
You can mix and match combinations and record the output straight to a
..wav file."

and yes, it is freeware. (so the site says.)

Seems you can only record 60 sec of noise without "registering."

I usually hate registration, but I'll take at look at it anyway.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. <g>. BTW, I made a white
noise sample using the dsg (digital signal generator) program recommended
earlier. I then used Audacity to increase the size even more. I'll be
burning it onto a CD to see how it sounds when played through my stereo.

I still wasn't able to take an existing WAV file and increase the sample
size. So if anyone figures that out, please don't hesitate to post.

Have a look at (and listen to) SERENE SOUND:
http://serenesound.com OR
http://www.serenesound.com
(I'm not sure whether the "www" is needed)

The program has Light and Heavy Waves, Light and Heavy Rain, Stream,
Waterfall, Fire, Blizzard, Hurricane, White, Pink or Brown Noise. You can
mix any or all of these and the noise will run continuously.

You might also be interested in AT NOTES, which has a facility to play a
..wav file repeatedly, or can start an .exe program such as Serene Sound at a
specified time. It's also a good Reminder Note program.

Looks like it might need (free) registration

There is also a freeware (LITE) version o their atmospheric sounds
generator - might be useful instead of the masker, or possibly with
some pink noise mixed in if it's not solid enough on it's own.

There is also a screengrabber - TURBOSNAP - and a couple of other
freebies - looks like a good find!

I tried both Sound Masker and Atmosphere. Both excellent. I was able to
made a pink noise CD without registering Sound Masker. I just took the
sample that came with the program and copied/pasted into Audacity until I
had a big enough file to fill a CD. Worked great.

I later registered just so I could get an uncrippled version of
Atmosphere. Registration gives the unlock codes for all their programs.

Does anyone know what the application of Brown Noise is? It supposedly is
named for "Brownian" noise. All I know is it's much softer than pink or
white noise. At the default value, you can barely hear it, so I'm not sure
why it's included.

Color me puzzled...
