My company is a single domain/forest that has 50% Windows 2000 DCs and 50%
Windows 2003 DCs. Our PDC emulator is Windows 2000. We run Exchange 2000 on
a Windows 2000 DC. We are currently in Windows 2000 mixed mode. What would
it take to create a two-way transitive trust with another forest? Since this
is a feature with Windows Server 2003, would we have to upgrade all DCs to
2003? Would we have to raise the forest functional level? Would it be
easier to just create an explicit trust? We need users from both sides to be
able to access resources in both forests.
