creating template ... problem

I'm wanting to have three text boxes, two across the top and one across the
bottom. How do I set that up in the masterpages so that it accepts the text
box size and styles that I layed out in the master pages. I can set it up
for two full length, side-by-side, but can't setup in the configuration that
I want.

Any suggestions. Thanks.
 
You cannot add placeholders to master slides in PPT 97-2003. (Or in 95, for
that matter.) PPT 2007 does give you this option, though.

Do you need three text boxes with fixed text for every slide or do you want
to enter text into them on every slide?
The first is easy: Insert text boxes with fixed text in the master. The
latter is only doable if you use PowerPoint 2007. There you can insert an
additional layout to your slide master and insert the additional
placeholders on it.

Thanks at least for solving my mystery - at least I know to stop looking.

The option to add more placecards was grayed out (thought I was doing
something wrong). I'm working with 2003 ... don't have 2007 and the company
probably won't change for a few years (we were using '97 until a 1.5 years
ago ... so it was much worse).
