I just installed XP Pro on a computer for my daughters, giving them limited
access. How do I go in as the Administrator, and give them access to use
certain programs? At present, they can only us MusicMatch when signed on as
me.

Thanks!

A simple way to work out what programs you want your daughters to use is to
open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\
The folders in this directory represen t the users on the machine.
{username}\Start Menu\Progams Here you'll notice the folder structure is
the same as the structure of the Start Menu
You can drag programs from one to another but make sure you right click and
copy instead of move so you can copy them to all the users you wish to have
access to the program. Another option is to copy the links to the (All
Users) folder and then anybody who logs in will be able to use them. You can
move files back and forth between these folders to your hearts content until
they are set up the way you want them.

Dingo...
Is that what your daughters call you too..........

1st...learn to trust them...why all this permission stuff....start spending
some quality time with them on the PC...and maybe, just maybe...they wont
think of you as a DINGO.....
2nd...change that ludicrous name....dingo, right...

First of all, you have erroneously assumed that I don't trust them, and have
not given them permission. If you read my post again, you will see that I
just installed Windows XP Pro, therefore, have not given or denied
permission to anyone. Obviously, I don't know how to do that or I wouldn't
have posted. If I deny permission, wouldn't it make sense that I knew how
to grant permission.

Secondly, you have made another erroneous assumption that DINGO is my name
and not an acronym. If you don't know the meaning of that word, go to
www.dictionary.com . Hopefully you have enough grey matter to figure out
how to do that, since you couldn't answer my post and tried to be a
smarta$$.

By the way, the quality time remark, you are probably not capable of
producing children in the first place.

Thanks for the intelligent response I got from other Newsgroups users.

Dingo..

1st..I'm not the only looking for limited access..YOU are...
2nd..You came up with DINGO as a name...cute...
3rd.. Don't sidestep the quality time issue...we all know this "limited
access" is just a way of not having to be with them while they are on the
PC...trusting...yeh, sure....put em in a room with a PC...throw a little
parental control on em'.......quality....come on...
you can rationalize this anyway you wish......
still come out.....Dingo is not involved.....

1st...I set myself as the administrator, giving them a "Limited access"
account, so as not to let them make any system modifications.
2nd..DINGO is and acronym for a group I served in when I was in the Marine
corps for 20 years. I won't go into the details as you probably could not
comprehend with your 8th grade education.
3rd..I think I answered this (although I don't know why) when I responded to
in the first line. Usually, "Parental Control" is used with AOL. Since you
brought it up and not me, I fully understand the reasoning in your response
the first time. You are an AOL user. That explains your ignorance.
4th..The computer does not even have a modem or NIC, hence no internet
access.
5th..I figured out the solution myself.

By the way....."Gator"?????

Gator is a troll. don't bother with him. he doesn't know anything ( im not kidding) he lies, he taunts and he has about 30 or 40 NG users that know exactly what hes up to. hes worthless and weak dont bother with him.
