Creating new Transitions

I'd like to create a custom transition by importing an image and using one of
the default wipes provided by MM.

Is this possible?

If the links John provided do not do the trick one thing I have done is to
create many of my own custom titles etc... and saved them as separate videos
that I have imported into my collections to use at different times.

For instance I have a picture of my family that I placed on the timeline
with a blank image on either side of it. I then applied a transition to each
end of the image and a text overlay. After that I saved it to my computer as
a High Quality NTSC video which I imported into my collections.
Now anytime I create a video I drag that short intro to the beginning of the
project.
