Hi everyone,

I have installed win2k pro on my p4 computer. I wish to
have a domain too so that i can use my user profile with
that domain.

How do i accomplish this task.

thanks in advance.

Alan

You'll need to install some version of server on another machine configured
as a domain controller then join the domain.

| Sorry, i am on a stand alone pc.

Yes, sorry for that. I installed win2k pro on my system
and while installing that it asked me for a domain which i
didn't select. But, i now wish to do that. So, that when i
log onto windows 2000 i enter my username and password and
select a domain from a drop down list. I think this should
clear.

On the workstation, right-click My Computer, Properties|Network
Identification|Properties, change to "Member of:" Domain (your domain name),
then you'll be prompted to provide a username and password with domain
account administration privileges, then after restart you should be allowed
to logon to the domain with a valid domain account.

In orderto log on to a domain, you have to be in a network of some kind, and
that network has to have a Domain Controller. A domain controller is a
machine running the server version of Windows NT, Windows 2000 or Windows
2003. So - if you have only one computer, logging into a domain just don't
make sense.

Please note that a domain in this context isn't the same as a domain on the
Internet (but they could be closely related sometimes....)
