Hi All :-)

I'm not sure where to post this, but my organization is looking for a good software application that is not terribly expensive that allows you to create documentationand help files and is able to be integrated into a .Net application. Any suggestions? Any help, suggestions, links would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,

Coleen

Hi Coleen,

Check out SandCastle - It's free, and it's what Microsoft uses:

What sort of documentation? MSDN type documentation for .NET libraries or
help files?

For the former, as has been suggested, SandCastle is the tool for you.

For the latter you could use HTML help and word (though it's quite the
headache to put the appropriate headers and footers) or some off the shelf
cheap tool like FAR http://www.helpware.net/FAR/

Thanks for the links! What we want to do is be able to document the application as we write it AND create help files for the users as we create documentation and develop the application. So, we really want something that can have change control for the documentation, but will integrate into our .Net application for use as a help file. We have been looking at stuff like Flare, or what we used to have was Robohelp, but it is no longer supported. Is there one software application that does all of the above? That is, it will allow us to create the programmer's documentation, the users documentation and help files, and integrate the help files into the .Net application? Thanks so much for all of your help and suggestions!

You could take a look at:

We just bought their tools but, I'm still just a beginner.
