Running W2K domain controllers, I'm trying to create a
DFS Root on a W2K3 Storage Server but I keep getting the
message: "The following error occured while creating DFS
root on server One: The object identifier does not
represent a vaild object."
It creates the root but when I try to access it, it
says, "The specified DFS root does not exist."

What am I doing wrong and how can I delete the multiple
DFS roots that are now part of Active Directory but are
not accessable?

Hi Enrique,

First, if the Windows 2003 server is not the domain controller, you should
install the Windows 2003 adminpak and use the new DFS to create the DFS
share. Install teh adminpak.msi from the Windows 2003 installation CD
directly on the Windows 2000 server.

If this does not work, on each DFS Replica Server we verified that the
registry entries for DSF were not incomplete.

Key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\DFSHost\Volumes
Value: FTDfs
Type: REG_SZ
Data: <name of root>

Value: RootShare
Type: REG_SZ
Data: <name of root>
Note: The following value will only be present for a Domain DFS root

Value: FTDfsObjectDN
Type: REG_SZ
Data: <DN for DFSroot object in AD> Example:
CN=MyDFSroot,CN=Dfs-Configuration,CN=System,DC=MyDomain,DC=com.

Please give the the above registry key values and I will continue to help
you.
