I have a genuine CD of Microsoft game called Age of Empires. This game
works only when CD is inserted in the drive.

I was thinking of using its image with a DemonTool drive on my laptop.

I tried various softwares such as Easy CD creater and Nero burning to
create its image but didn't suceeed.

Any suggestions how I can create its image! Is there any freeware stuff
that can help me create its image?

Thanx

The "other" solution to this problem is to search the internet for a "noCD"
patch for your game. I've done this for a couple of games I've bought. The
noCD patch is a modified version of the game's exe which allows it to run
without the CD being in the drive. I rename the existing exe to something
like exe.OLD and then put the noCD exe into the game's install directory.

Take all appropriate precautions prior to running such a patch, of course.

YMMV,
Ian.

What my dad does when he gets a cd game is copy the entire cd onto the
hard drive. this way, all necessary files are there, and cd is put away
in case of a system crash. It does work. in a Games folder, reate a
sub-folder called Age of Empires. Then, in My Computer, highlite the
drive that the cd is in, right-click that drive, and select COPY. Go to
the new sub-folder, open it, right-click, select SAVE. Good luck, and
it really does work.
