Michael

I make presentations weekly but I often change the
backgrounds so creating a template won't be the best way
to do what I need. I use a .gif logo in them quite
often. Is there any way I can create a button on the
toolbar so that I can just click it and have the logo
inserted with out having to go to Insert>Picture from file>
(my logo)? Is this a macro? Can I build a macro on a
toolbar? I use PPT97. Thank you!

Michael,

Try recording a macro to do this.

Tools, Macro, Record Macro...

Give it a name and tell it to be in your presentation. (You will have no
choice if it is the only one [presentation] open).

Click OK. As soon as you do, a new, little toolbar will pop up. It will have
a stop button. Don't hit it yet, but just so you know it is there for later.

Anyway, with the macro running, do your tasks of inserting the picture and
placing/ sizing it. When happy, then hit the stop button.

Then if you go Tools, Macro, macros, you will find the macro. Hit run and it
will do it automatically.

Caveats.

It will not record properly in slideshow mode.
It will not be available in any other presentation. You need to maybe save
your macro presentation to use it.
It will cease working properly if you move or delete any of the objects you
refer to when recording.

To create a button... Right click on the toolbar some where.
Customise.
Commands Tab.
Macros on the left.
On the right should be your macro name that you can drag and drop onto a
toolbar somewhere.
Close.

You are done!
