Has anyone encountered an error message after creating a
bootable system disk without autoexec.bat & config.sys?
Sequence of events: created boot disk & added the
aflash.exe file (required for BIOS Flash with ASUS
Motherboard)....after creation of this disk, I accessed
from the Command Prompt (a: aflash.exe)...After typing
aflash.exe...This error message followed:

ERROR: An Enhanced Memory Manager is already
installed...XMS driver is not installed.

ERROR! This program can't run under protected mode.

[Note: This is an error prior to even saving the current
BIOS version to disk...not an error after saving the
current version &/or after attempting to flash the BIOS]

- Your feedback is greatly appreciated...R/Mike

You can't run aflash from Windows, it has to be run from straight DOS. Copy
the new BIOS-file the disk. Boot from the (bootable) system disk you made,
then run aflash.

Go to www.bootdisk.com and download the Dr Dos
flash disk. It is not good practice to flash a BIOS from
windows or without a quality UPS.
