How do I create a boot up CD in Vista.

I need to upgrade the BIOS on my DELL and the suggestion is to do it from a
bootup disk.

Help would be appreciated

Hi Tony, the Windows installation disc contains the files necessary to start
Windows, so it is itself a boot disk. The installation CD also contains
Startup Repair, which you can use to repair Windows if a problem prevents it
from starting correctly. Startup Repair can automatically fix many of the
problems that in the past required a boot disk to fix. For more information,

I would still like to have the answer to this question. I have seen the gump
that said creat a boot disk but i thought my office had one. Now the office
manager would like to have one on hand.

Hi,

That sort of boot disk is made by right clicking the A: drive and choosing
format. One of the options here is to create a boot disk. Or you can
download the necessary files from bootdisk.com. For a BIOS update, this is
generally all you need in addition to the file supplied by the motherboard
manufacturer.

You should be aware too that quite often now many of these can be done by
running a utility from within Windows. The methods vary by builder, so you
should check what the current procedure is for each.

Either of these methods has nothing to do with Vista, nor can they be used
to recover data or repair the operating system via command line in an NTFS
environment. If this is your boss's objective, then there are better tools
for that available.

Does this also pertain to people who have upgraded from Basic Vista to
Premium Home ?? I did not get a basic Home Vista Install disk with the
machine // I do have the upgrade disk. I just don't want to be left out in
the cold just because I did not create a boot disk .. I believe in CYA for
computers these days
Any help would be appreciated ..
