Creating a template

Dear All

I am trying to create a template using PowerPoint 2003. I have a small icon at the bottom left of the template. I saved it by the name NewTemplate

I try to apply the new template onto my existing Presentation. However, the small icon just wont show! Can anyone guide me on this? Thanx in advance!
 
You have to do all of your design and saving in the View > Master > Slide
Master mode.
