Creating a Template

Good Day,

I'm creating an Absence Request template for our employees to use. I
created a line for each month with the corresponding days

ex Jan 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26

I would like the employees to be able to click on the day(s) off they would
like and those days would either automatically be circled or shaded, just
something. Is this possible or do you have a better suggestion for me.

Why not allow the user to simply highlight the days using the highlighter?

Well once it's save as a template and then you protect it so that the only
thing they can change is where you have given them permission, you can't
highlight anywhere, it doesn't allow that.
 
Therein lies the difficulty of suggesting a solution when you have provided
only a small part of the information necessary to answer the question. Your
original message implied that your document comprised a list of months with
their associated dates.

There is no simple way to do what you want. While looking at the problem
when originally posted, I came up with a macro solution that applied the
highlighting, but then it occurred to me that manual highlighting was
altogether simpler ... but not in a form. The macro solution comes as a
document template with a userform to allow the user to pick the dates to be
marked. You can download that template from my web site
