Creating a remote Site behind NAT firewalls

I have two locations both are using NAT behind firewalls.
When I specify the subnet for the remote'NEW' site should
I use the public subnet on the outside of the FW or should
I use the internal private subnet.
Also which ports need to be opened on the firewall.

I personally would specify both subnets in sites and services
