Hi there,

Does anyone know if it is possible to create a PPT and
then distribute it as an Exe or similar so that the
presentation cannot be altered by anyone other than the
author?

Many thanks in advance,.

Regards,

Stuart

Got the tip from this newsgroup but can't remember who the original poster
was - please, whoever you are step forward and take the credit, this is a
BRILIANT tip:

1. Create and save your presentation as a PPS file.
2. Open a new presentation, click on Insert, Object, Create From File and
select the PPS file you just created. Do not check the link or icon box.
3. Resize your embedded PPS (powerpoint show) to cover the whole screen.
4. Use the customes animations setting to make it run automatically, etc.
However you want it to appear.
5. Make sure your Multimedia setting is set to SHOW.
6. Save your new file as PPS (I add in password protection here so that
others can only open a read-only version)

So far I haven't found any way at all of breaking into it although you can
quite easily open the original if you have not included password protection.
Hope this helps,

David

David,
This method works great with full up PPT or with the old (97) viewer. It
does not work with the new (2003) viewer. The 2003 viewer does not support
activation of inserted object. :(

I believe life is meant to be lived. But:
if we live without making a difference, it makes no difference that we lived

If it's a fairly simple PPT (no animations), what you can do is
download the latest version of OpenOffice (free) and save the
presentation as a Flash file (swf).

Cheers,
Rene
