Hi. I'm pretty this question might be accomplished with a macro, or perhaps
some other kind of Access Language. If this was an Excel program, I would
know how to do it lickety split with a macro!
This is what I want to do (I have seen it done before but don't have access
to the database to figure out how it's done):
- create a database that is completely 'idiot proof'. I have it so it opens
with no toolbars, no database window etc.
- I want a button on the form that says "Search" or something like that that
will open up the form (or another) in filter by form view. Users can then
type in whatever they want to search by then click a button that says "View
Results".
* At this point I have a custom toolbar with these buttons on them as they
appear on the regular toolbar. I don't think that is 'idiot proof' enough as
I would need to explain what the buttons are for as they are not obvious (to
non-access users).
If I can not get this question answered, I will just have to use the toolbar
or create a bunch of parameter queries for all the possible searches (but
that could be a lot as people can search by multiple fields in a filter by
form situation).
If possible, I would like an option on the switchboard to open straight to
the form in filter by form mode, but that is not quite as important.
Speedy answers would be helpful as this is for work and also the last thing
that needs to be done for the database. Then I can stop thinking about it
and get on with other work! If this is better posted in a different
forum, please let me know!
Thanks!
