Help Please!
I can not figure out how to combine my free space and
unallocated space. I want to do this so that I can
configure a larger partition for 2nd my OS. I already have
Win2k Server loaded. I have a 40gig drive and there are
two free spaces (7.42GB and 4.93GB) and a 6.34GB
unallocated space. When it's time to choose a partition
for my OS, I have to choose ONE of them to load it on.
I've gone into disk management and can't combine them.
I've seen this done on another win2k machine, but when i
try the same thing on mine,(rt click on the specific free
space) the delete partition option is greyed out.

Whatever my obstacle, is I know that it's something
simple, I just havent learned it yet. Could someone be
so kind as to tell me what it is that I need to do in
order to get this (simple) task
done. THANX N ADVANCE The
Rookie / Wayne B.

Delete both the unused partitions, then boot the setup disks or CD-Rom and
install to the unallocated space. (assumes neither is the system partition)

Hi Dave, where exactly should I go to get this done,
because as I stated b4, that option is greyed out in
device manager. It doesn't even give me that choice. If Ur
talking about deleting them somewhere else, kindly let me
know where cause I would have the faintest clue. THANX

Your cryptic message is hard to read. I almost always never reply to these
types of messages where it appears your too lazy to type in English. You
didn't mention the OS to be installed. In the case of Windows 2000 boot the
setup disks or CD-Rom and when you get to the point, delete the unused
partitions, then abort the install and again boot the setup disks or CD-Rom
and install to the unallocated space.

The OS that I want to install is Windows 2000. I just
figured that since this was a Windows 2000 Newsgroup sight
that the OS wouldn't need to be mentioned.
- When I boot from the cd the only options that I see
available are partitioning and unpartitioning. And it
shows me 3 unpartioned spaces along with the C: partition
that I have server on.(I'm referring to the blue screen
that has windows 2000 setup located at the top.)
In Disk management (these 3 unpartitioned spaces) are seen
as 2 unpartitioned spaces and 1 unallocated space. I
believe that i understand what you're saying, about delete
the unused partitions, but I'm not seeing that option
anywhere.
I apologize for the shortcuts in English (Ur=you're ;
b4=before) it has nothing to do with being LAZY, I've
learned these habits from other pc users being on the
internet. I figured that it was a universal language.
As far as the combining the partitions, what am I
missing?? Sincerely Wayne B.
