Creating a "Games" profile?

I was thinking of trying to create a user profile to effect a "clean boot"
of the computer- I have lots of startup programs on my PC- Winfax, Hardware
monitoring, Hotsync, Roxio drag to disc etc, and with Half Life 2 on the
way, ( and only running an Athlon XP2000) I was hoping to create a user
account where none of this stuff loads on startup- hopefully then games
would run faster without all these extras stealing clock cycles.

I know that I can shut them down before playing, but logging on and off with
a special account seems easier.

Has anyone any knowledge of how this could be done, and whether it would
work?

Any suggestions would be gratefully received- I looked at Group Policy
editor, but couldn't make much sense of it.

Thanks in anticipation,

Ian

Hi Ian,

What I do when I want to preserve my resources is
click Start / Run / type: msconfig and disable all items
in the Startup tab. I find that I don't even need the
USB controller software for my gamepad running.

So instead of logging onto another user name, I keep
the same one, and just toggle the start-ups on/off. ;-)
