creating a beveled box

I usually just use the Action Button: Custom under "Autoshapes", "Action
Buttons". Even though you aren't assigning anything to the button you can
still use it. Other than that I create my rectangle, create one of the
sides using the "trapezoid" (and sizing it using the yellow triangle ), set
the fill color to a Gradient to get a raised look, duplicate it and flip it
to fit the other side, then repeat for the other two sides. Once done,
select them all and Group them.

How do I create a beveled box in PowerPoint - without using the special
autoshapes?

And if you don't want the button to act like a button during the screen show
(ie, not get all Marvin-like and depressed and a pain in all the diodes dow...
er ... sorry)
... you can choose Edit, Copy, Edit, Paste Special, As Enhanced Metafile and
get a plain old graphic of the thing.
