Word Createdate field in Word 2010

Hi there

I have a letter template which has the create date field in it - when this template is saved as an ordinary letter i.e. .doc or .docx, the date field doesn't automatically update to the date that letter was created, it keeps it the same as the created date on the letter template, which is not what I want.

Does anyone know which field would be best to use to get it to update automatically rather than users having to use the "update field code" option each time (as some users just can't be relied upon to do this unfortunately).

You can do this with macros, but fields in general only update when you either choose "Update Fields" (or press Ctrl + A, then F9), or you can go to a print preview to update all fields in a document.
