I am using PowerPoint 2000.
A co-worker created a template that I would like to use as the Master for
another presentation. I could not find anything in PowerPoint that lets me
designate this slide as the Master. Instead I am prompted to create a master.
Can this slide be made to be the master slide, or do I have to start from
scratch?

I tried what the article said, saving the template so that it would show on
the pulldown menu (format/apply design template/presentation designs). The
background turned white instead of using my template. What should I do now?

Try this, assuming you're using PPT 2002 or later:

Open your presentation

Choose Format, Slide Design (this opens the Slide Design pane if it's not
already open)

At the bottom of the slide design pane, click Browse.

Browse to wherever the co-worker's template file is stored and choose it.
