Mr. Arnold

I want to create an Ultimate Boot dvd on this laptop that is using Vista
Ultimate.

I want to boot off of the dvd, but the machine I want to do this with has
Win 2k3 server.

I want to do this, because the boot dvd has a tool I can use to change an
user account's password.

This machine was part of a domain, so I can't use the machine as is until I
get it off of the domain and over to a workgroup.

Can I do this with the way I want to do by using UBCD based off of Vista?

If so, how do you make the dvd so that it's bootable. I see instructions on
how to do if it's XP. which involves the XP install dvd. I have the Vista
install dvd, but I see nothing on how to do it for Vista.

I even downloaded the UBCD ISO for Vista and extracted the files to the
blank dvd, but it will not boot from the dvd even on the laptop running
Vista.

You don't extract the files from an ISO, you burn an ISO image.
Maybe that's why it wouldn't boot.
ImageBurn will reliably burn a bootable ISO image:

Thanks that worked. It was all for not, as I could boot with the dvd on
Vista and see the accounts and change a password, but I couldn't do the same
thing on Win 2k3 server, as it wouldn't show me the accounts. I think it has
something to do with the Win 2k3 server has settings to be on a domain that
it blocked it.

Which boot disk did you try and what is the program that edits passwords?

I used the Ultimate Boot for Windows that has a utility to change the
password. Anyway, I was able to get off of the machine what I needed,
just by booting normally even with the machine set to use a domain.
