We have a vendor who will let us access their ftp site using Windows
Explorer. I'd like to create a shortcut on the desktop so the ftp site opens
in Windows Explorer, not Internet Explorer. Suggestions?

Windows Explorer -> tools -> map network drive.
Link at bottom, 'Sign up for online storage or connect to a network server'.
Follow the 'Add Network Place' wizard.

Next, next, then enter ftp://whatever.com
Enter the username for the FTP server.
Enter a name for the network place.
Finish up the wizard.

It's now in Windows Explorer, under 'My Network Places'.

Hi
When the desktop is clean, open Internet explorer as a window so that you
can piece of the Desktop.
Type the ftp address to IE when the site appears right click on the address
and drag a link to the desktop.
This method can be used to drag any address to space that accept links.
