From Contact list of 900 (using Outlook2002) I have 310 identified as 'Client' using the Category feature. I want to create a unique distribution list from which to send a newsletter to the email addresses. Newsletters will be sent periodically and Client contacts will be added, changed and deleted daily. I want to avoid having to 'cut & paste' 300+ email addresses everytime we're ready to send a newsletter. I tried creating a distribution list but the 900 contacts were listed by first name and could not be segregated by Category. Thanks, PS. Does Outlook2003 offer a convenient solution?

Yes, I want to know that too. And I wish I could populate a newly created
contacts list by Copy and Drop, like you can in Exporer by holding down a
key (I forget which) while Dragging and Dropping with the mouse.

Method #1: Select that category, then use Actions | New Message to Contact to create the message. Cut and paste addresses from To to Bcc field.

Method #2: Select that category, then use Tools | Mail Merge to perform a mail merge to email using Word, sending an individual message to each person.

To use categories to create a DL, do the following:
Change the Contacts Folder View to by Category. Right click and drag the
Category required to a newly created Contacts subfolder then choose Copy.
Make sure the new subfolder has been enabled as an email address book by
right clicking on it and choosing Properties > Outlook Address Book Tab >
and check the box to enable as email address book. Create your new
Distribution List and make sure the Show Names drop down field points to
this new subfolder then shift select all the contacts.
