Hello all...
I don't know if what I'm trying to do can be done in Excel, but
maybe someone here can help me....
I have a text file which was generated by a router (log file). It looks
like this, but much longer, of course:

08/04/2003 08:21:55 192.168.1.32 1113 us.i1.yimg.com 80
08/04/2003 08:21:55 192.168.1.32 1115 us.a1.yimg.com 80
08/04/2003 08:21:55 192.168.1.32 1116 ad.doubleclick.net 80
08/04/2003 08:21:56 192.168.1.32 1117 us.a1.yimg.com 80
08/04/2003 08:21:57 192.168.1.32 1118 m.doubleclick.net 80
08/04/2003 08:22:29 192.168.1.30 1182 www.usahockey.com 80
08/04/2003 08:22:54 192.168.1.43 1194 wisapidata.weatherbug.com 80

What I want to do is be able to sort it in various ways. I know I
can do it if I can put it into a spreadsheet, but I can't figure out
how to make the columns.
When I import the file into Excel, everything goes into the rows ok, but
the entire line of text stays in column A. I would like to have a
column for date, time, IP addy, etc.
Is this possible in Excel? If not does anyone have any ideas as to
what program I can import this data into to sort it? I tried several
"log reader" programs, but I still can't sort it....

Thanks......Dave S.

Select the column, go to Data > Text to Columns,
Delimited, and choose space as your delimiter.
