How do I creat a chart with one single continuous graph/line portraying the
data from the spreadsheet that are in several non-continuous ranges of data
(eg a long range that has been split vertically into three separate lines of
data to enable printing of the data on a single sheet of A4)

Two methods:
1) Make the chart using just one row. Select and copy next row; clcik the
chart to activate it; use Edit:PasteSpecial and specify New Points

2) Select the data (using the CTL key if needed) and in the Name Box type a
name (MyRange) and hit Enter key. With a blank cell selected, start Chart
Wizard and in the second step open Series Tab; use Add button on dialog; in
Values box type =Sheet1!MyRange

best wishes

It's always easier to keep the original data unmolested. If you need a special
arrangement for printing, make a copy, then do what you must with the copy. If you
need a special arrangement for another reason, make another copy. Then you don't
need to mess up the original or the printer-ready data. Worksheets and ranges of
cells are cheap, but rework costs you precious time.
