Create a shortcut?

How can I create a shortcut of the START icon in Windows XP?

Hoping not to sound rude, but why do you want to? The taskbar (and therefore
Start button) can be configured to always be on top, so it is readily
accessible; a shortcut to it would not be. Unless you then assigned a
shortcut key combination to it - but then you might just as well press the
Windows key or Ctrl+Esc, either of which has the same effect as clicking on
the Start button.

Or perhaps do you mean that you want to use the *icon* on the Start button
for a shortcut you've created?

Anyhow, the short answer from me is "I don't know", so sorry if this has
wasted your time.

[Ctrl]+[Esc] or [Win]+[Win] keys will open the "Start Menu".
Why would you want "a shortcut of the START icon"?

Thanks a lot. wanted a shortcut that I can drop into a "MAC like" taskbar
at the bottom,
downloaded per recommendation from the latest Maximum PC under
Rocketdock.com

But someone here found the answer in Add-on to Rocketdock.com. A great
program, IMHO.
