Create a project from a project??

Linda

I have completed the first edit of my project. This is a 90-minute
video of my African trip. Now, I want to create a 30-minute video to
present to school children, using my rough edit as a starting point.
Naturally, I don't want to go through and eliminate all the poor
quality shots and redundant footage again; rather, I want to build a
shorter video from the project I've already completed.

In other words, is it possible to create a new project by pulling some
of the trimmed clips from an existing project?

Thanks in advance.

Linda

Yes, open the project - and do a Save As to another project name before you
make any changes. You'll be working in the new project (the copy of the
original).

Trim away to reduce it.

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough in my question. After I save it as a
duplicate project (keeping the original edit intact), how can I
extract 32 of the elephant clips, for example, which have already been
trimmed? And then extract, for example, 4 zebra clips from the
original project so that I can put the 4 clips, which have already
been trimmed, into the new project? And so on.

Or, can it only be done in the way you suggest: start with the entire
edited piece, and delete unwanted material?

After re-reading my original post, I realize that my question could
have been worded better. My apologies for troubling you again.
Thank you very much!

Hi Linda,

In the timeline or storyboard, use standard Windows selection commands - if
the 32 elephant clips are all in a row, select the first one, anchor it with
the shift key, and then select the last one - that'll select them all and a
Delete key will remove them.

If not in a row, hold the Control key as you select each.
