create a master table from other tables

Hi,

I'm transfering our mailing list and contact groups from excel into access
to streamline the system and make it more managable. I've run into a problem
though. I want to create a master list of each record, but some of the
records overlap in groups (the same person belongs to two or more groups),
but the whole point of this is to remove the overlap/duplicates. What would
the best way to do remove the overlap and still differentiate between the
source groups.

One way would be to use a different Yes/No field for every group a person
could be in.

Then load a complete list of all people. Next run update queries for each
group.
