create a contact folder by category

Explain what you mean.
Have you already created your categories and assigned Contacts to them?
If so, why do you also need a Contact subfolder?
 
i sorted it thanks, what i wanted was to create a subfolder contact list of a
certain catergory in my main contacts (ie i wanted ot have a seperate folder
list away from the main folder
