Crazy letters on everything

Thanks to anyone and everyone that may be able to assist
me. I rebooted my computer after it locked up. I was
trying to disable my network connection and it hung.
When I rebooted all the typing from the "welcome" screen
to the word "Start" is all scrambled with ? marks,
triangles, squares and weird charactors. It's like it's
not reading the fonts folder. I rebooted in safe mode
and rolled it back to a time stamp set for 8-19-04 but
this did not fix the problem. In case you are wondering
I'm using my laptop to type this up. Any ideas would be
great. Thanks again.

Sounds like you are missing some of the standard fonts that are
included with Windows XP, or the standard fonts are corrupt.
You can reinstall them by running Windows XP Setup to repair the
