Crashing/Out of Sync videos

I'm having an issue with WMM, where I cannot split a video file into clips without it crashing (with no error given) I've tried all the solutions on Papa's page, only one of which seemed to have any affect. It involved adding an itme to the registry and changing the write option under Desktop properties. However, this causes any video saved under this change to be out of sync, with the video operating at about 5 times normal speed, while the audio stays at the same speed. In fact, since I upgraded to WMM 2, this has happened with all my videos I try to save. What could be causing this?

What kind of source files are you using... might be related to MPEG2 files
and codecs.

I'm not familiar with AIMone. The Importing Source Files > Video > MPEG2
page of my site covers the topic in general..... usually it's a matter of
converting the file to something more compatible with MM2 before using it in
a project.

Yeah, that was the point of aimone to begin with, I couldnt get MM to take the file until I converted it to Mpeg form.

Well the files already ARE avi, and WMM won't accept them, which is why I'm converting to begin with.

As for making them WMV..it horribly shrinks and distorts my video, so it's currently not an option. I'll try the MPEG info on your page tho.

What codec is being used to make the AVI files? If you have problems in MM2
with them, maybe it's something like Divx.
