Crashing on save as dialog

Neil

Doesn't happen all the time but when it starts that's it, can't bring up the
save as dialog without IE6 crashing. Doesn't matter what site, click save as
from the file menu, dialog box opens and it's bye bye IE6, no warning, no
message.

Anyone know what's causing this?

Cleaned up my system with Ad-Aware and everything was hunky dory for for
half a day then it happened again. Go to save page and goodbye IE6.

On further inspection though, the problem is deeper than just IE6.

If I open any folder that I have created in the last week or so, the folder
itself crashes with a Windows Explorer error. Any other folder, even in the
same tree but created earlier than a week or so is fine.

This might not be the right group for this anymore but has anyone come
across this kind of behaviour before?

Well, I think I've sussed it. Nothing to do with IE6 as it happens but long
filenames. Does that make sense and why has it only been happening for the
last week or so?

I've actually found that if I open a crashing folder, rename a file with a
very long filename to something shorter, the folder crashes no more.
